Maple Island Quilts: BQ5

The pinwheel accent splash really makes the quilt pop, and I love that I can use multiple center fabrics for a scrappier look. It was surprisingly easy to follow the instructions for both the 18" and 13 1/2" block sizes. I'm already planning my second quilt with this pattern.

I was worried the big off-center focus block would be tricky, but the pattern instructions made the pinwheel accents come together smoothly. My queen-size top assembled quickly and the two block sizes let me play with negative space just right.

The 18-inch block came together beautifully, and I love how the big off-center focus lets a bold print really shine. I’ve already started a second one using a pinwheel for the accent splash.
