I’ve been cutting strips at 3 inches for the small kites and 4.5 for the big ones, and the house shape went together faster than I expected once I trusted the math. The two kite sizes give me so many layout options for my next quilt. Sewing the shapes after the strip cuts was almost meditative.

Finally, a quilting template that takes the guesswork out of cutting those kite shapes—the pre-calculated strip sizes for the 3" and 4.5" versions are a lifesaver. The house shape sews up so cleanly, I’ve already made two blocks for a baby quilt.

I was a little intimidated by the math in other patterns, but this tool does all the cutting calculations for you. The kite shapes came out perfectly from a simple 3-inch strip, and it saved me so much time.
