I've been using this pattern for a few nights now, and the foundation paper piecing sections are so well-drawn that even the tiny cardinal beak fits perfectly. The crisp, wintry color palette really pops against the dark background.

The bright, wintry colors in this pattern really pop once you start arranging the pieces, and the fabric feels high-quality. I had it all cut and half sewn in an afternoon.

The instructions for cutting and piecing the cardinal's wing were surprisingly clear, and the flannel feels wonderfully soft. My stitches lined up perfectly on the first try, which never happens for me.
