I’ve made a lot of quilt patterns, but the thin sashing detail here really makes the blocks pop without adding fuss. The 71-inch finished size is perfect for a generous throw, and working from a layer cake kept my cutting time down to almost nothing.

The instructions for cutting and piecing the half square triangles are so clear that even my first block came out perfectly square. I love that it can work with a layer cake, since I had a stack of 10-inch squares I was saving for a project just like this.

The sashing really makes the half square triangles pop without adding too much fuss, and it went together quicker than I thought. I used 24 squares from my stash and the 71-inch finished size is perfect for a generous throw.
