Maple Island Quilts: BQ4

The fat quarter flexibility is what sold me—I could mix three different center fabrics across the blocks without any waste. The off-center layout gives the whole quilt a modern, almost playful energy that I didn’t expect from a pattern this simple.

The 12x24 rectangles make such a striking layout when you mix in a couple of different center fabrics—my first block came together in under an hour. The off-center focus really does keep the eye moving across the quilt top.

I love that the big off-center focus lets me highlight a favorite fat quarter. The 12x24 rectangles add a nice horizontal element that breaks up the standard square grid.
