For me, there are certain flowers that just "speak" summer garden and the BLACK EYED SUSAN, otherwise known as the RUDBECKIA, is definitely one of those flowers. The moment I started designing my PORTOFINO collection, I knew that this flower garden would be amongst the accompanying patterns. But of course, I could not let go of the idea of the traditional Black Eyed Susan flower and thus decided to include them both. Start with just a few flower colors or go super scrappy like in the multi color version here to build your own summer flower garden.

Jason ★★★★★

The diagrams are so clear that I finished the flower blocks in one afternoon, and the way the petals are pieced gives them that lovely, full summer-garden look. Even the stem and leaf sections felt easy to follow, which is rare for me. I’ve already picked out fabrics for a second quilt.

The step-by-step diagrams make the flower blocks come together so easily, even for a relative beginner like me. I love how the pattern captures that cheerful, messy look of real Rudbeckia in a garden. Already picking out fabrics for a second quilt.

The fabric requirements listed on the pattern were spot-on, which saved me a trip back to the store. The piecing diagrams for the flower petals were clear enough that I finished the first block in under an hour.
