5 HOURS AND 15 MINUTES OF VIEWING

In the late 1920s and 30s, Florence LaGanke Harris wrote a quilt column called the Nancy Page Club for syndicated newspapers around the country. Each week a new pattern appeared, along with a quaint story about the ladies that read like minutes from a quilt guild meeting. Eleanor Burns located the original Nancy Page Club clippings from Grandmother's Garden Quilt, which appeared in the Nashville Banner in 1928. This series centers on the construction of this charming old-fashioned quilt of baskets filled with appliqued flowers. Historical women from this time period are also featured.

I loved seeing the original Nancy Page column patterns come to life in this set—the historical context really adds depth. The 5+ hours of footage gave me plenty of time to study each quilt design carefully.

The five hours of viewing really let me dig into the history behind those newspaper quilt patterns—it’s fascinating seeing how Florence LaGanke Harris presented them back in the 1920s and 30s. The DVD-R format is convenient for popping in whenever I have a spare afternoon.

The running time is exactly what I needed — five hours of solid background while I piece together a wedding quilt. Florence LaGanke Harris’s old newspaper columns are charmingly read and bring the 1930s designs to life. I wish the DVD menus were a bit easier to navigate, but the content makes up for
