Puff In Boots A Raw-Edge Applique Project Beginner-friendly (skill level 1/3) - tracing, cutting, topstitching and some small pieces Create a charming 18" x 18" puffin donning rain boots and a hat, which can be transformed into a wall hanging, a pillow, or a quilt block. Begin by tracing the pattern pieces onto double-stick fusible interfacing, such as Steam-A-Seam 2, and then apply them to your fabric. Cut the pieces, place them on a background and fuse them together using an iron. Finally, finish off your project by topstitching the pieces together, and voila! Your creation is complete! The pattern comes with an 8.5" x 11" instructional brochure, four 8.5" x 11" pages of pattern pieces printed at 100% scale, an 18" x 18" placement guide printed at 100% scale and an 11" x 17" color guide printed in full color. Fabric and double-stick interfacing are not included.

Joshua ★★★★★

The tracing and topstitching steps were exactly as described—my first raw-edge project came together without any frustration, and the tiny hat pieces were fiddly but doable. The finished 18" square puffin has so much charm, I'm already eyeing fabric for a second one.

Riley ★★★★★

The applique pieces are a nice size for practicing raw-edge techniques without feeling fiddly. I traced and cut the puffin's rain boots in an afternoon, and the finished 18-inch block is already one of my cutest projects.

Richard ★★★★★

I’m not a super experienced quilter, but the tracing and topstitching steps felt really manageable. The puffin’s rain boots and hat gave it such a playful look, and the 18” x 18” size was perfect for a quick project.
