The Scary Woods is not really scary at all! Sweet fluffy owls perched on branches with checkerboard trees. You can just see the light flickering in through the thick wooded forest! Large blocks make this an easy quilt to make with nothing too difficult. There is a link provided in the instructions for a step by step pictorial to assist with the small rounded areas on either side of the owl's eyes. All piecing methods are traditional including the Magic 8 method of making 8 half square triangles using only 2 fabric squares which is shared inside the written instructions. Clear diagrams are included to assist with the written instructions. Would make a terrific class, teaching the owl and the tree block one week and returning the following week or two to sew the rows together and add the sashing branches. The Scary Woods quilt measures 58" x 72".

Ellie ★★★★★

I love how the large blocks make this pattern come together quickly—great for a weekend project. The owls perched on checkerboard trees give it a whimsical feel without being too cutesy.

Riley J. ★★★★★

The checkerboard trees are such a fun twist, and those fluffy owls give it a cozy, storybook feel that’s way more charming than the name suggests. The pattern’s got enough detail to keep my eye moving, but the big blocks mean it doesn’t get visually noisy.

Love how the large blocks make this come together quickly, and those checkerboard trees with the fluffy owls give it such a cozy woodland feel. The flickering light detail really brings the forest scene to life without being complicated.
