The no-templates approach is such a relief — I can just cut into my stash and start piecing those bats without stressing over fiddly paper bits. The way the bats hover around the pumpkins reads so clearly in the finished quilt, and it’s genuinely spooky without being cartoonish.

I love that this pattern uses regular yardage instead of templates or paper piecing—it made cutting the bat shapes surprisingly quick. The finished quilt has just the right amount of Halloween spookiness without feeling childish.
